  Love this comic! However, this particular one is nonsensical. Translate this strip to physical property rather than copyright:

  “Why not voluntarily support the restaurants you like, rather than just leaving without paying?”

  Yes, some moral behavior must be forced at gunpoint, such as in protection of rights. The real question is whether IP is a moral right, as physical property ownership is.

  Bonemesh, the analogy doesn’t apply to physical property. If I leave this site without paying, (or make copies of the images,) it doesn’t cost Nina Paley in rent or materials.
